What you will achieve

Upon completion of the CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry course, students will learn how to:

  • Interpret plans and specifications.
  • Perform basic demolition of minor building structures.

Duration

104 Weeks (89 Weeks Study + 15 Weeks Holiday/Breaks)

Study Mode

The training will utilize a blended approach, comprising 15 hours of face-to-face instruction and 5 hours of supervised online study per week.

Delivery and Assessment Methods

This course will be delivered in blended mode (face-to-face and supervised online learning) and face-to-face training at a carpentry workshop. Assessments are conducted using a variety of methods for theory and practical. You will receive details of assessment tasks to be completed at the beginning of delivery of each unit on ASIA Moodle. Class sessions are planned to ensure that students have a mixture of practical and theoretical components, and those classes cater for a wide variety of learning styles. Additionally, workshop practices are used to conduct skills-based assessments in accordance with unit requirements.

Study hours

All international students are required to attend a minimum of 20 scheduled contact hours of study per week. They will generally be expected to attend the institute two to three days a week for around 5 to 8 hours a day along with a 5-hour online session.

Pre-requisites

Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who hold a:

  • CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry, or
  • The White Card.

Entry Requirements for International students

 International students need to meet the following entry requirements for admission into ASIA:

  • Students must be over 18 years of age.
  • Participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs
  • Have an IELTS* score of 6.0 (test results must be no more than 2 years old). English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of any of the following:
  • Educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country; or
  • Completed at least 6 months of a Certificate IV level course in an Australian RTO; or
  • Successful completion of an English Placement Test

 

*Note that other English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL can be accepted. Students are required to provide their results so that it can be confirmed they are equivalent to IELTS 6.0.

Credit Transfer

All Credit Transfer Applications must be supported by appropriate documentation, such as a Nationally Recognized Qualification Certificate, Transcript, or Statement of Attainment. These documents should correspond with the same qualification code, name, unit code, and title as those included in the student application, along with the date/duration of the course.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):

Credit and RPL are available to students with prior skills, experience, knowledge, or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training, in a related area. Recognition may reduce the duration of this course.
